Rolando Ania, MD, FAAN

Dr. Rolando Ania graduated medical school from University of Havana, where his extensive clinical training was focused on a patient centered approach. He then completed his Internal Medicine Internship at University of Illinois at Chicago, and Jesse Brown VA, in Chicago. He went on to complete Neurology training at Cleveland Clinic, where he also was distinguished as a Chief Resident. Dr. Ania has triple Board Certifications. He is a Diplomate in Neurology, as well as Epilepsy with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is also a Diplomate in Electrodiagnostic Medicine with the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine.

Dr. Ania has been recognized for his contributions to medical education, and currently functions as an Associate Professor of Neurology for University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine. He has been recognized with Excellence in Teaching Awards. Dr. Ania has served as a Medical Expert reviewer for The Nevada State Medical Board. Dr. Ania was recently elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology (FAAN), a designation held at the highest standard of the Academy in recognition of the valuable contributions of those to the Academy and the neurology community at large.

Dr. Ania relocated to Reno, Nevada in 2016, serving as Director of Epilepsy, Section Chief for Neuro-diagnostics, and ultimately as Division Chief of Neurology for Renown Health.  Dr. Ania is fluent in Spanish and English.

  • American Clinical Neurophysiology Society

  • American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine

  • American Medical Association

Outside of his professional commitment to the well-being of his patients and his passion for teaching, Dr. Ania enjoys traveling, outdoor activities, and spending time with his pets.

Kristen Bowman, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC

Kristen obtained her BS in Nursing, graduating in cursu honorum Magna Cum Laude from the University of Nevada, Reno and went on to obtain her Master of Science as a Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.  
 

Kristen began her nursing career on a cancer unit at Renown Medical Center and developed her knowledge in the care of oncology patients, dedicating 8 years, first as a nurse and then as an advanced nurse practitioner, to managing and caring for patients and families affected by cancer.  After her time in oncology/hematology, Kristen transitioned into Pain Management and honed her skills in caring for patients afflicted with acute and chronic pain.  Having spent 7 years in Pain Management, Kristen decided to explore the field of neurology, having had experience in the management and treatment of headaches, and joined the team at Sage Neuroscience Specialists in March 2023.


Kristen is committed to advancing not just her own knowledge but that of others, giving her time to preceptor medical students and residents rotating through her clinics.  She has been active in various committees throughout her career, helping to shape policies and guide decisions aimed at improving practices.  She is a member of the following Associations:
•    American Association of Nurse Practitioners
•    American Nurses Association

 

When not helping patients, Kristen enjoys skiing, camping, and travelling with her husband and children.

Mhervin Dagdagan, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC

Mhervin graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) and then pursued a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus on Clinical Nurse Leadership. Subsequently, he completed his Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) as a Family Nurse Practitioner at UNR.

Prior to joining Sage Neuroscience Specialists in May 2024, Mhervin worked as a dedicated nurse for four years at Northern Nevada Public Health, providing extensive services to the community.

 

Mhervin is passionate about caring for complex neurological patients and ensuring high-quality care. When he's not at work, he enjoys outdoor activities such as snowboarding, hiking, and golfing, and cherishes spending time with his wife and friends.
